Insufficient lubrication can be used to describe a variety of possible damage situations. The common feature of these conditions is that, during the running of the bearing, the lubricant can not be sufficiently separated from the surface of the bearing rolling and sliding contact. For different bearing system, should be based on experience, load, speed, sealing system, operation condition and life expectancy and other factors to correct design in the required amount of lubricant, type, grade, supply system, viscosity and additives, the one ten. If these factors are not properly considered, the bearing performance and its operating performance may not achieve the desired results.
Due to lack of lubrication of the bearing damage performance different, may be accompanied by large roller abrasion heat discoloration very slight, may also be the whole bearing lock accompanied by extreme metal distortion. There is also the case that the bearing undergoes dry start and is accompanied by extreme metal distortion, but its surface remains bright; this phenomenon occasionally occurs. This is because at the start stage, the bearings are subjected to thermal damage due to the contact between the metal and the metal, and then, as soon as the lubricant reaches the bearings, the bearings eventually cool down. Then, the bearings try to self repair to cover the initial metal distortion and heat discoloration.
Grade two damage is more pronounced, and it often obscures the initial problem and subsequent bearing damage. The typical performance of the bearing damage is caused by the local high heat and metal flow in the bearing, thus changing the original bearing geometry and bearing materials. Any visible metal cracks, scratches, hot marks, deformation or geometric changes will make the bearings become waste, and then can not be used.
